Dear Oxford Language and Computer Institute,

It is my pleasure to write this article for Oxford ; since my study abroad plan starts at Oxford , without you guys, my plan would probably fail, or I would give up.

In the last two months of my military service, my father and I made the decision together-studying abroad in U.S.A. To me, it was like an event that I have never thought about it, but I realized I should take this very seriously, because I was already 24, not a kid anymore. I did some research and went to some cram school to find out weather it suits me or not; Oxford is just one of them, and the history, which is more than 35 years, the reputation, and the fair tuition of Oxford really appeals to me. The very first class I took is the vocabulary class taught by consultant Liu turned my learning experience upside down; originally I did not think memorizing vocabulary is the most important thing in English, but, actually, it is. Without huge amount of vocabulary, it is impossible to conquer the TOEFL, not to mention GRE test. I do not think you can definitely get good grades by memorizing a lot of words, but at least it is prerequisite. Also, professor Liu also infused us some writing skills as well as the importance of grammar, teacher Wang for reading, teacher Tu for grammar, and
Dente for speaking. For all they are good teachers and advisors, I sincerely appreciate them.

As for my application progress, it is a little bit trickier. Due to the fact that my GPA is not promising and there are some gaps between my bachelor degree and master degree I am going to take. Consultant Liu spent a lot of time discussing with me for the Sop and autobiography which counts a lot in the application. The first time of my application unfortunately failed. It was so frustrated that some passive thought came out, but Consultant Liu still encouraged me to do some remedy; I ask for more recommendation letters from the Statistics field, adding some working experience in my autobiography, rewriting my Sop to enhance any chance I could be admitted. Eventually, everything just paid off. I succeed to get the admission of Depaul University . I still could remember the rapture about it, as I can remember this is my first time I took one thing so seriously from beginning to end. Of course, it is not real
end, but just a beginning.

Again, I appreciate those efforts you guys did to me. Not only consultant and teachers but also secretary Jill and Miss.Guo, you all help me a lot. Without you guys, I probably would fail, and the only thing I can and should do is to do my best effort to achieve my goal.

Sincerely,

Alen Liu
